UNILORIN Developing Ethical AI Policy

The University of Ilorin is working on a policy framework to guide the use and application of Artificial Intelligence. According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, the institution aims to ensure responsible AI use.

Prof. Egbewole emphasized the need for trust, transparency, and ethics in AI development, highlighting the importance of designing systems that serve humanity and prioritize fairness, privacy, inclusivity, and accountability.

The university's efforts come as it celebrates the graduation of five students from the AI for Africa programme, organized in partnership with Tech Mindset Africa. The graduates are Hassan Eleburuike, Barakatulahi Ola-Lawal, Dr. Maimuna Orire Abdulraheem, Adeniyi Emmanuel, and Azeezah Alao.
