UNILORIN New Council Chairman Pledges Collaboration for University Advancement

At the inaugural meeting of the University of Ilorin’s 14th Governing Council on August 26, 2024, Surveyor Abiodun Jacob Aluko, the new Council Chairman, pledged a collaborative approach to advancing the University’s goals. Surv. Aluko, who took office on July 1, 2024, has set a clear objective to improve UNILORIN’s global ranking through his newly introduced Vision 1:10:100.

Surv. Aluko praised the existing Vision 1:10:500, proposed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, but opted for a more focused Vision 1:10:100 to ensure a practical and achievable goal of placing UNILORIN among the world’s top 100 universities.

During the meeting, Surv. Aluko highlighted the importance of addressing challenges faced by Nigerian universities, including the impacts of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). He expressed his commitment to collaborating with the Conference of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities to tackle these issues effectively.

The newly constituted Council, which includes key members such as Elder Ayobami Oladele Afolabi and Alhaja Abosede Juwon Olayiwola, reflects a diverse and experienced leadership team. Surv. Aluko emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among all University stakeholders to drive the institution’s progress and enhance its global reputation.
