UNILORIN Prof. Omotesho Praises University School Staff for Exceptional Commitment on Graduation Day

Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, Chairman of the Governing Board of the University School and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ilorin, praised the school's management and teachers for their unwavering dedication and professionalism during the Graduation and Prize Giving Day ceremony held last Thursday.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, Prof. Omotesho highlighted the impressive outcomes achieved by the school's students, including Rabiaa Akeem, who recently secured the first prize in the Primary Three and Four categories of the Raising Young Authors of Nigeria Competition. He expressed gratitude towards the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for their support and encouraged both teachers and pupils to remain committed to their educational pursuits, assuring them that their efforts would bear fruit in due time.

Mr. M.I. Saliu, the Head Teacher, reported significant achievements over the past academic year, with a notable 91 percent success rate in the 2024 National Examination Council. He thanked the University management for their prompt assistance following a rainstorm that damaged some school buildings and addressed transportation challenges faced by the institution.

In his remarks, Dr. Ogungbade, Chairman of the PTA, emphasized the crucial role of teachers in shaping society. Mrs. Muhibat Egbewole, wife of the Vice Chancellor and Deputy Registrar at the University, advised pupils to be cautious about their associations and to uphold exemplary behavior.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Rasheed Odunola, Director of University Health Services; Prof. S. Aremu, Managing Director of the Niger River Basin Development Authority; Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); and Prof. Rasheed Adeoye, a member of the Unilorin Council and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
