UNILORIN VC charges CODL students to be of good conduct

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), has advised fresh students of the institution’s Centre  for Open and  Distance Learning (CODL) to always be of good conduct as they are also encouraged to face their studies.

Prof. Egbewole gave this advice recently while speaking at the maiden orientation programme for the pioneer students of the Centre admitted into the University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the Mini Campus of the University.

The Vice Chancellor, who spoke through the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Musa Toyin Yakubu, explained that there is no difference between the students of the Centre and the students on the main campus of the University.

He, therefore, urged them to always work very hard and face their studies in order to deserve and earn the University’s certificate.

In his goodwill message, the Registrar of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, congratulated the students and advised them to be focused in their academic pursuit as that is their main purpose of  being in the University.

 Mr Alfanla assured the students that at the end of their four years of learning, they will all be graduating with the enviable degree of the University of Ilorin.

The Registrar, who spoke through a Principal Assistant Registrar, Mrs Sherifat Lawal, also advised the students to be good ambassador of  the University of Ilorin by adhering to all the laid down rules and regulations guiding students of the University.

He advised them not to engage in hard drugs and also remain focused in order to excel in their studies.

In her welcome address, the Director of the Centre , Prof. Oyeronke O. Ogunlade, urged the newly admitted students to embrace the concept and practice of possibilities in order for them to be able to surmount the challenges ahead of them.

The Director also urged them to always remember that they are full students of the University, saying that they would together traverse the path of knowledge and discovery.

Prof. Ogunlade expressed her appreciation to the management of the University, particularly the Vice Chancellor for being a great and visionary leader as exhibited in all his roles, which led to the effective take-off of the programme.

The Director also thanked all those whose efforts culminated in the take-off of the Centre such as Prof. M. O.Yusuf, Prof. A. O. Fajonyomi, Prof. H. O. Owolabi and the immediate past Director of the Centre, Prof. Bashir A.  Omipidan.
