UNILORIN VC Congratulates Emir of Ilorin on 84th Birthday

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the occasion of his 84th birthday anniversary, which coincides with today, Monday (April 22, 2024).

Prof. Egbewole, in a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the revered monarch deserves to be celebrated in view of his continuous contributions to the stability, peace and prosperity of the nation right from his days as a judicial officer.

The Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law described the First Class Traditional Ruler, who is also the Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, as a distinguished jurist and an eminent statesman who has deployed the privileges of his exalted throne towards the promotion of national integration.

He added that the birth and career of Alhaji Sulu-Gambari have been of tremendous blessings to the people of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria at large.

The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU),  said that the Emir has been a remarkable father-figure to the University of Ilorin, saying that the University has benefited tremendously from his interventions.

Prof. Egbewole specifically thanked the Emir for encouraging peace and understanding among the people and residents of Ilorin Emirate, which, he said, extended to the University, making it one of the most peaceful institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor pointed out that the reign of the Emir, who is also the Chancellor of the Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin, would continue to be acknowledged and celebrated as a golden era in the annals of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State considering so many positive transformations that have been recorded in every realm of human endeavour by his subjects and in his domain.
