UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor Inspects Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Engineering Workshop Facilities
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, led a facility inspection tour of the University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) and the Engineering Mechanical Workshop, accompanied by some principal officers of the institution.

At the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the Vice-Chancellor inspected newly installed equipment at the surgical theatre, including a thermal surgical table, digital weighing scales for both small and large animal units, a digital X-ray machine, and a dart gun, all valued at millions of naira.
He commended the VTH management and staff for their commitment to service delivery, noting that the acquisition of the modern equipment would significantly enhance research, clinical services, and teaching. He urged the staff to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities.

Prof. Mele also visited the Faculty of Engineering Teaching Workshop, where he inspected repaired and newly fabricated office and classroom furniture produced by staff and students of the faculty. He praised the ingenuity and productivity of the engineering team, encouraged them to sustain the momentum, and assured them of the University Management’s full support for continued development and expansion of in-house production capacity.
