The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof Clement Adebooye, has cautioned lecturers who secured research grants in 2023 to utilize the funds wisely and prioritize contributions to knowledge. Prof Adebooye disclosed this during a press briefing at the university's main campus in Osogbo, where he highlighted that scholars from various departments secured research grants totaling N173 million last year.
Emphasizing the importance of focusing on academic endeavors rather than material acquisitions, he urged grant recipients to invest in research activities that would enhance their careers and contribute positively to the institution's reputation.
Prof Adebooye also commended the significant increase in research grant awards compared to the previous year, noting the university's leadership in securing such grants among state universities in Nigeria.
He further encouraged lecturers to uphold high academic standards and defend the integrity of the institution, stressing the need for meticulous research work that adheres to professional ethics.
