UNIPORT SUG President Martins Azirindu Okpara Distributes Foodstuffs to Students to Ease Hardship
The University of Port Harcourt's SUG President, Comrade Martins Azirindu Okpara, distributed foodstuffs to hostels to ease the economic hardship faced by students.
In a noteworthy demonstration of student leadership and community support, the President of the Students' Union Government (SUG) at the University of Port Harcourt, Comrade Martins Azirindu Okpara, on Wednesday, distributed foodstuffs to various hostels on campus. This gesture is part of his ongoing initiative to help students cope with the increasing economic hardships in Nigeria.
The distribution, which took place across several hostels, included essential food items such as rice, beans, and garri. The SUG President's initiative aims to provide some relief to students struggling with rising living costs and limited financial resources. Comrade Okpara stated that the effort is part of a broader plan to support the student body during challenging times.
"The economic conditions in our country have made it difficult for many students to meet basic needs," said Comrade Okpara. "We, as the SUG, are committed to supporting our peers in any way we can. This food distribution is one way to show that we care and to ease some of the financial burdens our students are facing."

This initiative follows a previous act of support from the SUG President. A few days earlier, Comrade Okpara provided N10,000 to each of over 100 students as part of a school fees intervention package. This financial aid was designed to assist students struggling to pay their tuition fees and prevent them from dropping out of their studies.
