University of Africa, Toru-orua (UAT) Takes Students to Local Government on Excursion and Understudy

The Undergraduate students of Political Science Department of the University of Africa Toru-orua (UAT) on Tuesday 20th February 2024 were out on the field to gain practical knowledge on local government administration system in Nigeria as they embark on an excursion to Ekeremor Local Government Area Council of Bayelsa State.

The Undergraduate students of Political Science Department of the University of Africa Toru-orua (UAT) on Tuesday 20th February 2024 were out on the field to gain practical knowledge on local government administration system in Nigeria as they embark on an excursion to Ekeremor Local Government Area Council of Bayelsa State.

The students who were led by Dr. Sapele Frank Funkeye of the Political Science Department and Mr. Tambou Joseph Tambara of the Department Public Administration were received by the Local Government Chairman Barr. Belemu Nemine, and other principal officers of the Council.

Presenting the students to the Chairman, Mr. Tambou informed that the trip was part of the commitment of the University of Africa and the Department of Political Science to ensure that her students are exposed to practical experiences on the field adding that physical and practical interface with the third tier of government is part of the requirement to earn a degree in Political Science in the University of Africa.

The Chairman appreciated the initiative of the University in ensuring that her students gain practical knowledge about local government administration. He further lectured the students on how the local government is funded, the structure, the two tier system, how bye laws are made in addition to other relevant information. Head of various departments were also on ground to brief the student on their day to day activities. The Chairman further pledged to continually collaborate and partner with the University whenever necessary.

The UAT students were jointly received by the Local Government boss Barr. Belemu Nemine, The Chairman RDA, Opuokede, Hon. Ebiowei Miller, Hon. Barr. Dennis Vice Chairman, Gabis Abenzi, PhD, Supervisory Councilor for Education, Digienini; Mr. Tiwei Tuamokumo,Head of Local Government Administration; Tam Lokpoboiri, Treasurer; Bere Eyerinbolaemi, Accountant; Ebimogba Keme, Cashier; Barr. Brown S. Kirikareye, S.A Political to the Chairman; Hon. Ass Pebo Supervisory Councilor and well as other Supervisory Councilors.
