A storey building collapsed early Saturday morning in Ekhator Street, Ekosodin, Benin City, Edo State, trapping several University of Benin (UNIBEN) students. The incident occurred during a severe downpour, which led to the building’s collapse in a student-populated area.

Rescue teams have managed to extract some individuals from the rubble, but several victims sustained severe injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue one student who remains trapped, reportedly calling for help from inside the debris.
