University of Ibadan has released a detailed notice to its 2024 graduating students in preparation for its Convocation and 76th Foundation Day ceremonies, scheduled to run from November 13 through November 18, 2024. Graduands are advised to carefully follow the instructions to ensure a seamless and memorable convocation experience.
In the announcement, the University congratulated the graduands on their academic achievements and provided specific steps for the collection and return of academic outfits, payment requirements, and ceremony protocols. Here are some key highlights:
-
Academic Outfits and Payments:
Graduands must pay a fee for hiring their academic gowns, set at N5,000 for undergraduate and master’s degree recipients. MPhil and Ph.D. candidates should contact the Postgraduate College for gown purchase details. Additionally, all graduands are required to pay a N1,000 levy for membership in the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, regardless of attendance. -
Procedure for Payment:
Graduands should make payments through the Remita platform, selecting “University of Ibadan Fees” and providing a payment narrative. Receipts can be printed 24 hours after payment, which are necessary to collect academic gowns and invitation cards. -
Collection and Return of Academic Outfits:
Academic outfits, two invitation cards per graduand, and additional ceremony materials will be distributed at faculty offices upon presentation of payment receipts. Outfits must be returned within 48 hours after the ceremony, or a surcharge of N1,000 per day will apply. Damages to outfits incur a fine of up to N10,000. -
Ceremony Protocols:
Graduands must arrive at the International Conference Centre by 7:00 a.m. each day for robing and procession. Proper robing is mandatory, as improperly robed graduands will only be allowed seating in the gallery. Additional protocol, including seating arrangements, anthem etiquette, and movement restrictions, have been outlined to maintain the solemnity of the ceremonies.
The University’s administration extended blessings and congratulations to the graduands as they prepare to become ambassadors of the institution.
