University Of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor Seeks Continued Prayers And Support From Muslim Community

The University of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has appealed for the continued prayers and support of the university’s Muslim community. He made the appeal during a reception following the Special Jumat Service held to mark the university’s 77th Foundation Day and the 2025 Convocation Ceremonies.

The University of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has appealed for the continued prayers and support of the university’s Muslim community. He made the appeal during a reception following the Special Jumat Service held to mark the university’s 77th Foundation Day and the 2025 Convocation Ceremonies.

Professor Adebowale commended the new Chief Imam of the UI Central Mosque, Professor Ibrahim O. Uthman, for delivering a profound sermon at the Jumat service, describing it as a timely reminder for members of the academic community to contribute positively to national development through prayer and action. He emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge as a cornerstone for growth and sustainable development in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the President of the University of Ibadan Muslim Community (UIMC), Professor M.A. Onilude, and the entire community for their steadfast support of his administration. He encouraged community members and university staff to uphold UI’s legacy as the “first and best” in their conduct during the Foundation Day, Convocation ceremonies, and beyond.

In his remarks, Professor Ibrahim O. Uthman thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support for the Muslim community, citing examples of selfless leadership. He called for continuous prayers of gratitude to Allah for divine guidance for the VC and the university management.

Professor Uthman highlighted the UIMC’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and supporting peace and progress within the university. During his Jumat sermon, he reminded students that knowledge is central to Islam, urging youths to pursue education, live peacefully with others, and avoid vices.

He also commended his predecessor, Professor Muftahu Oloyede AbdulRahmon, for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the Muslim community and the university, noting that he was a “teacher of teachers” who encouraged higher education among members of the community.

The Chief Imam assured the university management that the UIMC will continue to offer prayers for the success and progress of the administration.
