University of Maiduguri Mourns the Passing of Emeritus Professor Umaru Shehu

 The University of Maiduguri community is deeply saddened by the loss of Emeritus Professor Umaru Shehu, CFR, former Sole Administrator of the University, who passed away on October 2, 2023. In a condolence message, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Shugaba, expressed profound grief and celebrated the remarkable life and contributions of the late professor.

Professor Umaru Shehu's legacy at the University of Maiduguri is marked by diligent service in various capacities, including Professor of Community Medicine and Provost of the College of Medical Sciences. During his tenure, the university benefitted from his courageous and experienced leadership during its critical stages of development.

The Vice-Chancellor praised Professor Shehu for his exceptional qualities, including humility, hard work, diligence, and unwavering commitment to community service, the nation, and humanity at large. He noted that the late professor was widely respected as one of Borno's elder statesmen.
