University of Maiduguri Shines at 27th Nigerian University Games

The University of Maiduguri participated in the 27th Nigerian University Games (NUGA) held at the University of Jos Stadium on October 8, 2025. The event saw 91 universities competing, with Maiduguri athletes taking part in 14 sporting events.

Maiduguri's contingent is competing in football, basketball (male), volleyball (male & female), handball (male), table tennis (male team), tennis, judo, taekwondo, and various athletics track and field events. In taekwondo, athletes are in multiple weight categories for both males and females. Athletics features female competitors in sprints, middle-distance, relays, and hurdles, while males are in relays, discus, and long jump.
