WAEC Praises Unions for Ensuring Smooth Conduct of Exams
“We commend the labor unions for their cooperation. Their understanding has ensured that our students can sit for their exams as scheduled,” Adesina stated.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has praised the Nigerian labour union for not disrupting the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) on Monday.
Despite concerns on Sunday night about potential interruptions from union actions, the exams, including Computer and Physics practicals, proceeded smoothly nationwide. Over 1.7 million candidates in Nigeria are participating in the exams, which are scheduled to conclude next week.

WAEC Nigeria spokesperson, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, expressed appreciation for the labour unions' understanding of the negative impacts that any disruption could cause. She noted that preventing students from taking their exams would have led to missed opportunities, extended exam periods, delayed results, psychological stress, and increased logistical burdens.
“We commend the labor unions for their cooperation. Their understanding has ensured that our students can sit for their exams as scheduled,” Adesina stated.
