The affected institutions, namely Community Secondary School and Comprehensive Secondary School, both suffered substantial damage as the flames rapidly spread to their premises.
Fortunately, reports indicate that no lives were lost in the unfortunate incidents, bringing a silver lining to the grim situation. The fires erupted in the evening and quickly engulfed the school buildings, prompting emergency response efforts.

Anambra State Fire Chief, Martin Agbili, confirmed the incident, stating that his team, along with the assistance of individuals present at the scene before their arrival, battled the fierce flames to bring the situation under control. The State Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 6:49 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, alerting them to the heavy fire outbreak at Community Secondary School, Nawfia.
