The Wesley University Ondo marked the 2026 International Women's Day with a special programme held at the Wesley Ecumenical Centre on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The event, themed Give to Gain, brought together members of the university community for reflection, encouragement, and spiritual renewal, highlighting the importance of generosity and support for others.
Delivering the sermon, Mrs Oni, an evangelist from the Anglican Cathedral in Ondo, stressed the need for individuals to help others as a way of advancing the work of God. She explained that supporting people in need strengthens faith and contributes to the growth of the Christian community.
She drew attention to the struggles faced by many young people, particularly girls who aspire to pursue education but lack financial support. According to her, the absence of timely assistance sometimes pushes them into difficult circumstances as they struggle to survive.
Evang. Oni encouraged the congregation to embrace generosity, explaining that the message behind Give to Gain is rooted in consistent acts of kindness and service rather than personal recognition.
She noted that investing in the success of others, especially women, ultimately strengthens families and society, adding that acts of love and service represent spiritual investments that yield lasting rewards.
During the programme, Queen Obeka led prayers during the family thanksgiving session, offering prayers for families, homes, and members of the congregation while committing the new week into God’s hands.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor Samuel Sunday Obeka congratulated women in the university community on the occasion of International Women’s Day and encouraged them to continue making meaningful contributions to the church, society, and national development.

The programme concluded with celebrations among members of the university community as they reflected on the contributions of women and the importance of generosity, service, and mutual support.
