Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has made key appointments to bolster his administration, with Dr. Ebere Uzoukwa appointed as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Public Affairs. The announcement was made through a statement dated July 8, 2024, signed by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha.

Dr. Uzoukwa, who holds a Doctorate degree in Mass Communication from Imo State University, Owerri, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as SSA Media to the former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. His career spans over two decades in journalism practice, during which he has garnered significant expertise in public relations and media management.

In addition to Dr. Uzoukwa's appointment, Governor Alex Otti approved several other appointments aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery in Abia State. Among the appointees are Gerald Ilukwe, appointed as Chief Information Officer; Chief Greene Amankwe, designated as Special Adviser on Investment Promotion; and Onyebuchi Chukwu, appointed as Special Assistant on Youth Development.

Further additions to the administration include Peter Ekekwe, who assumes the role of Deputy General Manager (DGM) at the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Ohafia Zone; Dr. (Mrs.) Betty Emeka-Obasi, appointed Administrator of the Eye Health Management Bureau; and Chinedu Michael Nwosu, appointed as Special Assistant on Students' Affairs.
