Ahmadu Bello University (ABU ZARIA) is one of the venues for this year’s Nation-wide League One Season, as the national competition began at the institution’s stadium with team ABU Workers Football Club slugging it with Standard FC.
The competition kicked off on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2023 and it will be rounded off on Monday, 15th May, 2023.
It
was a very tough contest between the two teams which ended goalless throughout the 1st and 2nd rounds of the match.
In the first half, two players from both teams were given yellow cards: 20 minutes into the match, Buhari Sani (15) received a yellow card, while Usaini Adullahi (13) of team ABU Workers also got a yellow card 4 minutes to the end of the 1st half.
Again, both teams had substitutions of their players in the 2nd half. Team Standard FC substituted Buhari Sani (15) with Dotun (10), thirteen minutes into the 2nd half.
And, subsequently, the second substitution came 27 minutes into the match, when Timothy (21) was replaced with Jibrin (26) alongside Hakim (17), who was substituted with Johnson (25).
Team ABU Workers substituted Nura Ahmed (28) with Usman Ibrahim (29) alongside Musa Ya’u (18) who was replaced with Umar Sabo (6), thirty-six minutes into the 2nd half.
Still, a few minutes to the end of the match, team ABU Workers substituted Jessey (14) with another player wearing Jessey (15).
Earlier in the day, two matches took place, between teams Bakori FC and Katsina United Junior FC, where team Bakori emerged winner with a 3-2 win, just as team Funtua Sharks played with Ambassadors FC, and the match ended 1-1 draw.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has approved the use of Ahmadu Bello University stadium for the 2023 league based on the request made by the Chief Operating Officer of the Nation-Wide League One.
