Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has established an Energy Audit and Reform Committee to address the institution's increasing energy expenses.

The committee, chaired by Prof. O.O. Okubanjo, was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed on May 26, 2025. The committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive audit of energy consumption patterns, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending cost-saving measures and system upgrades.

With a deadline of four weeks to submit its findings and recommendations, the committee comprises experts from various fields, including ICT, finance, and physics, as well as an external energy consultant.
