ABU Inaugurates Committee to Tackle Rising Energy Expenses

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has established an Energy Audit and Reform Committee to address the institution's increasing energy expenses.

The committee, chaired by Prof. O.O. Okubanjo, was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed on May 26, 2025. The committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive audit of energy consumption patterns, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending cost-saving measures and system upgrades.

With a deadline of four weeks to submit its findings and recommendations, the committee comprises experts from various fields, including ICT, finance, and physics, as well as an external energy consultant. The Vice-Chancellor has pledged full administrative support to the team, emphasizing the urgency and critical nature of their work to the university's financial sustainability.
