Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Declares Work-Free Day to Mark Islamic New Year

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, as a work-free day to commemorate the first day of the Islamic calendar, Al-Muharram 1446 AH.

According to a statement released by the Office of the Registrar, the decision follows the Bauchi State Government's declaration of the day as a public holiday.

The university management has exempted essential service providers from the work-free day, while normal activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

The deputy registrar, Admin & Council, Haj. Hadeeza L. Mailafia, signed the statement on behalf of the registrar, wishing the university community a blessed year ahead.
