An Accounting student of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Abraham Okubule, has achieved the rare feat of qualifying as a Chartered Accountant before completing his undergraduate studies, further strengthening the university's reputation for producing professionally certified graduates.

The achievement places Okubule among a select group of students who have attained chartered accountant status before graduation.
Reacting to the milestone, the Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Professor Ebunoluwa Oduwole, congratulated the student on behalf of the university's management, staff and students, describing the accomplishment as a reflection of the institution's commitment to academic excellence and professional development.
Speaking on his achievement, Okubule attributed his success to discipline, dedication and hard work. He disclosed that his parents had always hoped he would become a Chartered Accountant before graduation, a goal that motivated him throughout his studies.
He also commended the university for providing a conducive learning environment that supported both his academic and professional growth.
The university noted that Okubule's achievement follows similar successes recorded by previous students. During the institution's 15th convocation ceremony, four Accounting graduates—Alaba Akinosun, Iberedem Ikwo, Peter Oluwalana and Olatundun Afolabi—graduated with first-class honours while also qualifying as Chartered Accountants.
According to the university, these accomplishments have been supported by the leadership of the Governing Council, chaired by Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, whose policies have encouraged students to pursue professional certifications alongside their academic programmes.
The university management also highlighted its longstanding partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), noting that the current administration has expressed its commitment to further strengthening the collaboration to provide more certification opportunities for students.
The institution stated that the latest achievement aligns with one of the major goals of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oduwole, to position Ajayi Crowther University as Nigeria's leading faith-based university with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and professional competence.
Beyond academic degrees, the university said it continues to equip students with entrepreneurship skills, soft skills and additional professional certifications. It cited the introduction of its triple certification programme, through which graduates receive a degree certificate, a Mind Education certificate and an Entrepreneurship Training certificate.
The Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Dr. Adesola Oluwatuyi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Professor Ezekiel Adeleye, were also commended for their roles in sustaining the department's record of producing Chartered Accountants through mentorship and academic support.

Expressing his joy over the achievement, Abraham Okubule's father thanked the university's leadership, describing his son's success as "the Lord's doing." He also disclosed that he has two sons graduating from Ajayi Crowther University, with the elder studying Computer Science, and expressed gratitude for their academic progress.
