Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has assured students and parents of their commitment to ensuring adequate security within the school and its host community. This follows a series of violent attacks on students living off-campus.

Victor Akinpelumi, Head of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations at the university, stated that the institution is dedicated to the safety and well-being of its students. In light of recent security concerns, the university has taken proactive steps to enhance safety measures in collaboration with relevant security authorities.

Akinpelumi outlined the university’s efforts to address the security issues, including the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to patrol the campus and surrounding communities. The university is also closely collaborating with the state’s Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to develop a coordinated response to the security challenges. Regular meetings and dialogues with community leaders and stakeholders are being held to create a united front against crime and improve overall safety.

Akinpelumi emphasized the importance of vigilance among students, urging them to report any suspicious activities and utilize available safety resources. He reassured students and parents that their safety is the university’s top priority.

Earlier, Oyindamola Boladale, President of the Students’ Union Government, had written to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, calling for enhanced security in the university community. Boladale noted that recent incidents had turned the Akungba community into a dangerous area with armed robberies resulting in the loss of lives and belongings of students.
