Admiralty University Vice Chancellor Visits the Obi of Ubulu-Unor
The Vice Chancellor of the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubuisi Ogbogbo, on Monday led a delegation of principal officers and management staff on a courtesy visit to the Obi of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obi Kikachukwu Afamefuna, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Vice Chancellor of the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubuisi Ogbogbo, on Monday led a delegation of principal officers and management staff on a courtesy visit to the Obi of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obi Kikachukwu Afamefuna, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The ADUN delegation was warmly received by the Obi and his council of chiefs with traditional rites, including the breaking of kolanut. His Majesty offered royal blessings and expressed hope for the continued growth and development of the university within his community.
A key highlight of the visit was the Obi’s announcement that, after due consultation with his chiefs, he was donating a large expanse of land in Ubulu-Unor to the university for educational purposes. He also congratulated the Vice Chancellor, describing him as a worthy son of the Anioma Kingdom.
In response, Professor Ogbogbo praised the Obi’s virtues and the rich cultural heritage of the Ubulu-Unor Kingdom. On behalf of the university, he expressed gratitude for the donation and pledged that the land would be used to advance knowledge. He disclosed plans to establish a Faculty of Agriculture that would harness the agro-economic potential of the community through cutting-edge research and the application of information and communication technology to create jobs and improve crop yields.

The Vice Chancellor’s delegation included the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral M.M. Abdullahi; the Registrar, Commodore Isaac Mankilik (rtd); the University Librarian, Dr. Gladys Onyia; and the University Bursar, Captain H.Y. Aliyu, along with other senior management staff.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of sustaining peaceful coexistence between the university and the host community. He also revealed that the university’s management is developing a plan to provide more scholarship opportunities for indigenes of Ubulu-Unor.

According to Makut Alfred Mashat, Anipr, Public Relations Officer, Office of the Vice Chancellor, the visit further cemented the bond between Admiralty University and the Ubulu-Unor community, setting the stage for greater collaboration and mutual progress.
