ADUN Library Marks Nigerian Navy at 70 with Literacy Outreach in Delta Schools

The Emeritus Professor Augustine Esogbue Library of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) has commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy through a literacy-focused outreach programme tagged “Book Rhapsody.”

The outreach, held on 25 May 2026, extended the University’s community engagement efforts to Umuoke Primary School, Aboh/Ogwashi-Uku, and Aboh Comprehensive Secondary School along Ibusa Road, where books were donated to enhance learning resources and strengthen reading culture among pupils and students.

The initiative was designed to promote literacy development, encourage academic excellence, and support lifelong learning beyond the university environment. Beneficiary schools received educational materials aimed at improving access to quality reading resources and supporting classroom learning.

Leading the delegation was the University Librarian, Commander A. E. Ameobi, alongside other library officials who coordinated the outreach activities and engagement sessions with students and staff of the host schools.

The programme also formed part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary, underscoring its wider contributions to national development, including support for education and community advancement.

School administrators and students expressed appreciation to ADUN and the Nigerian Navy for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful in addressing resource gaps and encouraging academic discipline.

The University reaffirmed its commitment to sustained community engagement through literacy advocacy, educational support initiatives, and service-driven outreach programmes aimed at strengthening human capital development.

The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing ADUN’s broader mission of societal impact through education and knowledge sharing.
