The University of Lagos Management, re-assurance at the meeting with the African Representative and Nigerian Lead on its commitment towards ensuring full automation of processes across key directorates, sections and units of the university.

The University of Lagos Management, on Monday, June 19, 2023, reiterated its commitment towards ensuring full automation of processes across key directorates, sections and units of the university.

Representative of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa gave the re-assurance at a meeting with the African Representative and Nigerian Lead of SAP SE (a German Multinational Software Company), Evert-Jan Tromp and, Razvan Barsan.

While reaffirming the university’s readiness to also leverage on the automation process for capacity building for staff, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor recalled the university’s long-standing engagement of youths, especially non-students, through various ICT related programmes, a project which she said would also be scaled up to build and enhance capacities in specific competences with a view to bridging some already identified deficits.

According to her, “the University of Lagos boasts of about 62,000 students across various academic programmes and a staff strength (both teaching and non-teaching) of not less than 4,000, hence the need to transit into a technology-driven administrative process which would ensure greater work efficiency, enhanced community impacts and better outputs from the university”.

In their separate remarks, representatives of German Multinational Software Company; SAP SE, Evert-Jan Tromp and Razvan Barsan expressed delight over the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the UNILAG management towards automating key processes in the university.

Messrs Evert-Jan Tromp and Razvan Barsan assured of the operational capacities of SAP SE to ensure the conservation of resources in the actualization of tasks and optimization of technology in driving administration.

Present at the meeting were Heads/Representatives of the University Registry, Bursary, Academic Planning, CITS, HRDC, Students’ Records, Admission Office, Students’ Affairs, Academic Affairs as well as the Works and Physical Planning Department. These units, offices and sections are to undergo full automation for the university operations to be seamless, more efficient and contemporaneous.
