The Management of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic has officially prohibited the use of Point of Sales (POS) machines for payment of all school fees, effective Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a circular issued on August 5, 2025, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM, the institution expressed serious concern over the ongoing misuse of POS services by certain operators. These operators have been facilitating fee payments through POS in violation of the institution’s established rules, purportedly to assist students and graduands.
Management described this practice as unacceptable, warning that it undermines institutional regulations and carries potential negative consequences.

The circular directs all students and graduands to make payments for acceptance of admission, certificates, transcripts, and school fees only through designated banks. Failure to comply will result in no excuses being entertained, as management will hold defaulters fully responsible.
The directive has been communicated to key university officials, including the Rector, Deputy Rector, Bursar, Polytechnic Librarian, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments, the Students’ Union Government President, and the Security Office, to ensure strict enforcement.
This measure aims to safeguard the integrity of the institution’s financial transactions and protect students from fraudulent practices.
