University of Maiduguri Secures $4 Million ICT Development Grant

The University of Maiduguri has been selected as one of ten federal universities in Nigeria to benefit from the highly competitive Blueprint-ICT-Dev Project, securing a landmark $4 million grant.

The project, backed by a €38 million financing package from the French Government through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), aims to strengthen digital infrastructure and ICT capacity across selected Nigerian federal universities.

The project aligns with the National Universities Commission's (NUC) "Blueprint for the Rapid Revitalisation of University Education in Nigeria," developed in 2018 to address challenges in Nigeria's higher education sector. According to Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, Executive Secretary of the NUC, "Digital transformation must become the standard across public and private universities." The project will position the University of Maiduguri at the forefront of digital innovation in Nigerian higher education.

The French Government is backing the initiative as part of its support for Nigeria's education sector development.
