Aminu Saleh College of Education Refutes Claims of Clinic Decline; Outlines Major Health Infrastructure Upgrades

The management of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOEA), Azare, has formally addressed and dismissed recent allegations suggesting a decline in the standards of the College Clinic under the leadership of the Provost, Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Unit on January 19, 2026, the institution described the claims as "misleading," providing a detailed account of the significant investments and strategic partnerships recently implemented to enhance healthcare delivery for staff and students.
Despite fluctuating student enrollment, the management has consistently secured funding for medical supplies. The clinic has seen a staffing boost through the engagement of part-time medical officers, nurses, and laboratory technicians.
The clinic has officially enrolled in the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA). This enrollment allows the college to receive capitation funds to provide essential drugs and services to enrolled staff. The facility now boasts a maternity complex for prenatal and postnatal care via the NSHI program. Furthermore, the medical laboratory has been upgraded to handle complex investigations, with plans underway to begin conducting minor surgeries.
To ensure uninterrupted service, the management has installed 24-hour solar electricity and a dedicated water supply system within the clinic premises. Ongoing collaborations with the State Ministry of Health and the Primary Health Care Development Agency have facilitated technical support, vaccination drives, and the distribution of treated mosquito nets.
The management emphasized that these efforts reflect the Provost’s commitment to the welfare of the college community, noting that the clinic is "gradually expanding its capacity" rather than declining.
