Anambra First Lady Launches Healthy Living Initiative in Public Primary Schools
Dr. Nonye Soludo inaugurates Healthy Living Ambassadors and Champions program in Anambra, aiming to instill healthy habits in children through school clubs and garden competitions.
The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has launched the Healthy Living Ambassadors and Champions program for public primary schools under the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB). The initiative aims to instill healthy living habits in children from a young age.
Dr. Nonye Soludo inaugurated the champions, who are headteachers, and the ambassadors, who are teachers with expertise in Physical Health Education or related fields. These individuals will lead Healthy Living clubs in selected schools across the state.

During the inauguration ceremony held at the ASUBEB Headquarters in Awka, Dr. Nonye Soludo emphasized the importance of the initiative in fostering a culture of health consciousness among children. She urged the appointed teachers to carry out their duties with dedication and commitment, guiding students towards adopting healthy lifestyle habits.
The event also marked the launch of the Healthy Living Garden Competition, a termly challenge aimed at promoting agriculture, self-sufficiency, and hard work among students. Winners of the competition will be announced at the end of each term, with rewards matching their efforts.

Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Ass. Prof. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, highlighted the role of ambassadors in modeling healthy behaviors for students and fostering a supportive environment within the clubs. She commended Dr. Nonye Soludo for championing the initiative, emphasizing its significance in equipping children with essential life skills.
Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, praised the Healthy Living initiative for promoting health consciousness among young people. Additionally, 330 fully-equipped first aid kits were distributed to schools to address health emergencies.
The event featured drama performances by students and lectures on various aspects of Healthy Living, including personal hygiene and environmental protection. Overall, the inauguration marked a significant step towards promoting a healthier lifestyle among Anambra's youth.
