In a bid to enhance community participation in the management and oversight of schools across Anambra State, the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has launched the Club of Patrons and Community Quality Assurance Supervisors.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Utility Hall of the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka, witnessed the participation of various stakeholders, including community leaders, traditional rulers, and President Generals. This initiative aligns with the directive of His Excellency, Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, to ensure stakeholders' involvement in the effective functioning of schools.

The Club of Patrons comprises distinguished individuals from Anambra communities, both at home and abroad. These patrons, including prominent sons and daughters of their respective communities, are tasked with monitoring the daily activities of schools, fostering a conducive learning environment, and ensuring teachers' accountability.

On the other hand, the Community Quality Assurance Supervisors consist of retired civil servants, teachers, and other concerned community members. Their primary responsibility involves daily monitoring of teachers' conduct in schools to uphold teaching standards and ensure optimal learning conditions.

During the inauguration, an orientation program was conducted for Primary One, Two, and Three pupils, as well as transferred students from other schools. This annual initiative aims to familiarize students with school regulations and foster a sense of responsibility and commitment to academic excellence.

Addressing the attendees, ASUBEB's Executive Chairman, Ass. Prof. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, emphasized the pivotal role of the patrons and supervisors in supporting schools' daily operations and addressing any challenges that may impede academic activities.

Furthermore, Mrs. Enendu Ngozi, the Director of the Department of Academic Service, highlighted the importance of grooming students to become exemplary ambassadors of their respective schools and active participants in the state's academic agenda.

Mrs. Chigbo Nwakaego, the ASUBEB Guidance and Counseling Desk Officer, urged guidance and counseling officers across the 21 local government areas to ensure the effective dissemination of the orientation program at the school level.

In a show of commitment towards the initiative, the Traditional Ruler of Awkuzu, Igwe Prof. Charles Anikweze, expressed readiness to collaborate with stakeholders in fostering a conducive learning environment in Anambra schools.

The inauguration ceremony featured vibrant performances by students from various primary schools, including a welcome song by pupils of Udoka Primary School Awka, and cultural dances by pupils of Central School, Awka. These presentations added color and energy to the event, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Anambra communities.

The launch of the Club of Patrons and Community Quality Assurance Supervisors marks a significant step towards strengthening community engagement in the education sector. With the active involvement of stakeholders, Anambra State is poised to enhance the quality of education and ensure the holistic development of its students.
