Anambra State Government Suspends Principal for Violating Free Education Policy

The Anambra State Government has suspended Dr. Fidelia Ogili, the Principal of Metu Memorial Secondary School Onitsha, for allegedly violating the free education programme of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

According to a statement released by the government on its official X account, Ogili was asked to step down by the Commissioner of Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. The suspension comes after Ogili was accused of going against the “Free Education pronouncements of Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo”.

The statement detailed that Ogili had allegedly asked parents to pay N1,700 each for the stipends paid to PTA teachers. In addition, students whose parents were absent from PTA meetings and orientation programmes were reportedly asked to pay N1,000.
