In response to the speculations, ASUU-OOU acting chairman Dr. Oloto Wasiu asserted that the union’s executive body is fully in charge. Dr. Wasiu emphasized that, despite the branch chairman's absence for medical treatment, the executive team has been effectively managing the union’s activities.
“The insinuations that the Vice Chancellor (VC) is running the affairs of the union are unfounded,” Dr. Wasiu stated. “Our executives make all decisions, and we have not handed over control to anyone.”
Former ASUU-OOU chairman Dr. Okewale also dismissed the rumors as attempts to create division within the union. He confirmed that the executives have not ceded control to any individual, including the VC, who, as a member of the branch and a former chairman, has the right to attend ASUU-OOU congresses and offer suggestions.

OOU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, refuted claims of interference. “As a member and former chairman of ASUU-OOU, attending congress meetings is my right. I have not taken over the secretariat or dictated union activities,” Prof. Agboola explained.
Both union leaders and the VC condemned the allegations as baseless and designed to sow discord within the union. They reassured members that the union remains intact and under the full control of its elected executives.
