The management of Babcock University has alerted students and the general public to disregard a fraudulent notice currently circulating within the university community, demanding the payment of ₦250,000 as a “SIWES Programme Support Fee.”

According to the university, the fake notice, titled “NOTICE TO POST-SIWES STUDENTS,” falsely instructs students to make the said payment between October 5 and 19, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Office of the SIWES Coordinator, the university described the message as a scam, urging students to ignore it and avoid falling victim to fraudsters attempting to exploit the name of the institution.

The statement further clarified that Babcock University does not charge any additional support fee for the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) programme beyond the approved tuition and related payments published by the university.

Students were advised to verify all official information through recognized university communication channels, including the official website and departmental offices, to avoid misinformation.
