Bayero University Issues Alert on Fraudulent Internship Scheme in Germany

 

Bayero University management has issued a warning to students and staff regarding a fraudulent internship scheme operating in Germany.

The scheme, run by companies PT CVGEN and PT Sinar Harapan Bangs (PT SHB), targets tertiary institution students with promises of internships in Germany.

 

According to a circular from the National Universities Commission (NUC), the scheme is a front for human trafficking and exploitation. The Indonesian Police have already busted a related human trafficking network, Ferienjob, which lured students to Germany with illegal internship programs and trapped them in debt.

The University advises students and staff to exercise extreme caution when considering international internship opportunities and to verify the authenticity of such offers before applying. The University also urges vigilance in surveilling companies making such offers in Nigeria, particularly in light of the rising trend of students seeking to travel abroad via student visas and other means.

By issuing this alert, Bayero University aims to protect its community from falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
