Bayero University Kano Clarifies Power Outage at College of Health Sciences

The Management of Bayero University, Kano has issued a statement to clarify the recent power outage at the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).

According to the statement, the power outage was a result of the unilateral migration of the College to the blue line platform by KEDCO without informing the University Management. This led to a bill of 30 million naira being submitted to the University in April 2024, which was not budgeted for.

The University Management has always been prompt in settling electricity bills and is working to restore normal power supply. Engineers from the University Maintenance Services Department (MSD) are currently working to separate the College from the hospital for bill settlement purposes.

In the meantime, arrangements are being made to ensure that power outage does not affect students' water supply in the hostels. The University Management appeals to all affected to bear with the situation, as normal power supply will soon be restored.
