In a bid to counteract the recent surge in university registration fees and uplift education in Northern Borno, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, representing Borno North Senatorial District, initiated a landmark scholarship program.

Senator Tahir Monguno unveiled a scholarship initiative benefitting 100 students from Northern Borno studying at the University of Maiduguri and Borno State University. .

The first batch of beneficiaries, meticulously selected through rigorous screening, includes orphans and the less privileged. The scholarship, spanning from registration to graduation, addresses the financial challenges that many faced, preventing potential dropouts due to increased registration fees.

In his address, Senator Monguno emphasized the transformative power of education, stating, "The only legacy that one can bequeath to humanity is the legacy of education." He urged the recipients to capitalize on the opportunity and become exemplary ambassadors of Borno North. The Senator's commitment to educational development was echoed by various speakers, including Hon. Sheikh Mohammed Ali Gajiram, Prof. Maina Gimba, and Baba Mallum Bulin.

The ceremony also marked the inauguration of officials for the M.T. Monguno Educational Foundation. Dr. Bashir Alhaji Bukar, a Pediatrician from the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, assumes the role of Director, while Abba Alkali Goni, HOD of Library Information and Documentation at the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology Baga, serves as the Coordinator. The foundation aims to support higher education students, particularly focusing on the girl child, and promote school enrollment in Borno North.

The event concluded with the submission of registration remittances for beneficiaries and a group photograph symbolizing the collaborative efforts between the Foundation, Senator Monguno, and the scholarship recipients.
