The Botanical Society of Nigeria, at its recently concluded 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting held at the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, conferred its highest award, the Fellow Nigeria Society of Botanists (FNSB), on four distinguished members who have made significant contributions to the field of Botany.

Among the recipients, Prof. S. P. Bako stands out as the current Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Jalingo. Prof. Bako has an illustrious career in academia, having mentored over 12 professors and supervised approximately 30 Ph.D. theses at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as well as other universities in Nigeria and abroad. His scholarly contributions include over 150 publications in books, international and domestic journals. He is also a regular attendee and contributor to numerous conferences and seminars, showcasing his dedication to advancing botanical sciences.
