BUK Clarifies Matriculation Issues, Assures Freshers of Traditions
Bayero University Kano (BUK) has addressed concerns surrounding the matriculation of freshers, reassuring students that the tradition will continue uninterrupted.

According to the Admission Officer, the university sends names of successfully matriculated candidates to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) annually. The matriculation ceremony, which coincides with orientation, has been a long-standing practice at the institution.
The officer attributed the unavailability of matriculation gowns in recent years to unforeseen circumstances. In 2020/2021, the merging of two sets of freshers led to a prolonged admission process, leaving no time for matriculation ceremonies. In 2022/2023, the increment in fees may have contributed to the unavailability of gowns, as students were already under financial pressure.

Despite these challenges, the university has confirmed that orientation took place, and matriculation remains a crucial part of the university experience. Freshers are eagerly anticipated to wear their gowns and participate in the upcoming 2023 matriculation ceremony.
