BUK Management Warns Against Surcharging of TETFund Conference Attendance Funds

The Management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has issued a warning to the university community regarding allegations of individuals requesting a percentage of approved funds for conference attendance and workshops from beneficiaries, contrary to approved guidelines.

According to a letter from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), signed by Garba Muhammad Sabonsara, Assistant Director of Academic Staff and Development, such acts are condemned in totality, and individuals found culpable will face disciplinary actions.

The Fund clarified that beneficiaries should not grant such requests, and beneficiary institutions should note the provision of section 3823(viii) of TETFund Intervention Guidelines, which states that "Beneficiary Institutions shall not surcharge nominees or deduct any amount of money from the funds approved in their favour to attend conference/workshops".
