BUK Announces 2024 Staff Promotion Exercise

Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced the timeline for the 2024 Promotion Exercise. The exercise is scheduled to take place from June 24, 2024, to September 13, 2024.

The timeline is as follows:

- June 24 - July 19, 2024: Departmental, Faculty, and College Appointments and Promotions Committee (A&PC) meetings

- July 22 - August 2, 2024: Submissions from Colleges/Faculties to the Secretariat

- August 5 - August 30, 2024: Secretariat to collate and prepare submissions for the Central A&PC

- September 4 - September 13, 2024: Central A&PC meeting to consider cases

Heads of Department are reminded to note the following guidelines:

- Staff must have served for at least three/four years in their positions by September 30, 2024

- Administrative staff cases should be routed through the Registry

- Bursary Staff/Stores Officers cases should be routed through the Bursary Department

- Librarians and Library Officers cases should be routed through the University Librarian

- Academic Staff and Technologist cases must pass through the Departmental, Faculty, and College A&PC

- Cases of all Faculties under the Colleges should be coordinated by the Provosts

- Academic Staff on approved Study Fellowship can be promoted up to the rank of Lecturer I or equivalent

- All submissions should be based on extant guidelines for the appropriate cadres

Submissions should be forwarded to the Deputy Registrar, Establishment Matters, not later than August 2, 2024.
