BUK Secretaries Undergo Training on Computer and Digital Tools for Enhanced Office Productivity

Scores of secretaries from various faculties, centers, directorates, departments, and units of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) participated in a two-day training program on computer and digital tools for office productivity.

The training, held at the Julius Berger Learning Centre from Monday, April 29 to Tuesday, April 30, 2024, aimed to equip secretaries with essential computer skills and digital tools to enhance their productivity in a rapidly evolving digitally driven work environment.

The comprehensive training covered key areas, including:

- Basic computer skills

- Microsoft Office applications

- Online collaboration tools

- Utilizing Excel for calculations and data management

- PowerPoint for slides and presentations

- Developing and converting e-documents to PDF

- Adapting computer and mobile digital tools for office productivity

Professor Yusuf Garba, Director of Academic Planning and coordinator of the program, emphasized the importance of equipping staff with the necessary skills to effectively utilize computer and digital tools in their daily tasks. The goal of the training, he stated, was to create a more skilled and efficient workforce within the university, leading to improved office productivity and organizational effectiveness.

The program was facilitated by Mallam Ahmad Tijjani Garba and Engr. Adams Mustapha, who provided insightful and engaging sessions on various aspects of computer usage and digital tools. Engr. Adams Mustapha also discussed how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have emerged as game-changers in the field, revolutionizing office productivity and efficiency."
