CCU to Hold Combined Convocation Ceremony: 502 Graduands to Receive Degrees
Coal City University Celebrates Milestone: 502 Graduates Set to Receive Degrees in Combined Convocation Ceremony
Coal City University, a privately owned institution, is set to host a grand convocation ceremony on Saturday, December 2, where 502 students will be awarded degree certificates for their accomplishments across four academic sessions - 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The announcement was made by the university's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Afam Icha Ituma, during a pre-convocation press conference held at the university on Tuesday. Prof. Ituma revealed that out of the 502 graduands, 33 achieved First Class honors, 209 secured Second Class Upper Division, 234 attained Second Class Lower Division, and 26 earned Third Class.

In addition to celebrating the academic achievements of the students, the convocation will honor five distinguished Nigerians with honorary doctorate degrees. Notable among the awardees is the governor of Ebonyi state, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who will be conferred with a Doctor of Public Administration for his exemplary conduct and extraordinary leadership in Ebonyi state.

Other recipients include Mrs. Patricia Nwobodo, the wife of Chief Jim Nwobodo, a former governor of Old Anambra state, who will receive a Doctor of Banking and Finance. Engr. Kingsley Eze, CEO of Tenece Professional Services, Enugu, an ICT company, will be awarded the Doctor of Computer Sciences. Sir Ikenna Okafor of Keves Global Leasing Ltd based in Port Harcourt will receive a Doctor of Business Administration, and Mr. Jude Adani, CEO of OJA Group of Companies, will also be honored.

The convocation festivities will commence on Friday with an alumni dinner lecture titled, “Imagine: Create Your Future,” featuring a presentation by former Minister of Information, Mr. Frank Nweke Jnr.
The event promises to be a momentous occasion, celebrating not only academic accomplishments but also recognizing outstanding contributions to various fields by distinguished individuals.
