Chrisland University Appoints Commodore Kunle Olawumi as Associate Professor
Chrisland University has appointed retired Commodore Adekunle Olawunmi as an Associate Professor of International Relations and Political Science.

Chrisland University has announced the appointment of retired Commodore Adekunle Olawunmi as an Associate Professor of International Relations and Political Science. The decision was made by the university’s Governing Council, chaired by Distinguished Professor Ayodeji Olukoju, and is effective from October 1, 2023.

Commodore Olawunmi, a former Deputy Director of Defence Administration at the Defence Headquarters Abuja and a former Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, Nigeria, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Chrisland University.
Born on May 25, 1963, Olawunmi hails from Imasayi, Ogun State. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2003), a B.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University, Paris (2004), an M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from the same institution (2006), and a Ph.D. in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Center for Diplomatic & Strategic Studies (CEDS), Paris (2013). Additionally, he earned an M.A. in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan in 2014.
Olawunmi is a member of several professional bodies, including the International Society of Military Law and the Laws of War, the National Institute of International Affairs, the National Institute of Management, the African Institute of Strategic Studies, the Teachers’ Training Council, and a Fellow of the National Defence College, Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, also announced the promotion of other distinguished academics to the ranks of full professors and associate professors. These promotions include Prof. Joan Mbagwu (Criminology and Security Studies), Prof. Augustine Onyeaghala (Medical Laboratory Studies), and Adegboyega Afolabi (Accountancy) as an Associate Professor.
