Cross River State University Students Involved in Fatal Accident; Two Dead
Six students from Cross River State University were involved in a fatal auto crash while traveling to their homes. The accident occurred following the institution’s two-week closure on Monday. The identities of the two students who lost their lives have not been disclosed, but they hailed from the Departments of Guidance and Counselling, as well as Biochemistry.

According to reports, the students were aboard the same bus, en route to Ogoja in the northern part of the state when tragedy struck near Ikom along the Calabar–Ikom highway.

The university had recently closed its doors, reportedly in an effort to prevent students from participating in the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1. The identities of the two students who lost their lives have not been disclosed, but they hailed from the Departments of Guidance and Counselling, as well as Biochemistry.
A witness recounted the harrowing events: “Yesterday, some of the students had just completed their exams and were heading to their hometown in Ogoja here in Cross River State. At Ikom, their vehicle was involved in an accident. Six of them were affected and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

“Two of the girls were brought in unconscious and received medical attention. Tragically, one of them passed away this morning. Additionally, one of the boys involved in the accident, who was unconscious and undergoing treatment yesterday, succumbed to his injuries.”
“Only two students lost their lives. The remaining two are currently receiving treatment, while the other two escaped with minor injuries,” the source revealed.
This devastating incident has left the university community in shock and mourning,
