UNICAL Student Suspended For Biting A Fellow Student
The University of Calabar has suspended Uwakmfon Nkereuwem Ben, a third-year Educational Biology student, for violently attacking a fellow student by biting her ear. The suspension, enforced from July 25, 2024, will remain in place until the Students Disciplinary Committee completes its investigation. Uwakmfon has also been ordered to vacate the hostel immediately.
The University of Calabar has suspended Uwakmfon Nkereuwem Ben, a third-year Educational Biology student, following an incident of violence. The suspension, enforced from July 25, 2024, was announced by the university's Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe.
According to the release, Uwakmfon was involved in an altercation where she violently bit a fellow resident of Hall 8. This behavior was deemed "very strange" and unacceptable within the university environment, as stated by the Registrar.

The suspension is in response to a violation of the university's Student Handbook. Uwakmfon will remain suspended pending the outcome of an investigation by the Students Disciplinary Committee, which will make recommendations to the university’s management.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science Education and the Head of the Department of Educational Biology have been instructed to ensure adherence to the suspension directive. Additionally, the Chief Security Officer has been tasked with overseeing Uwakmfon’s immediate removal from the hostel premises.
