The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Linkages and Collaboration, Prof. Peter C. Okafor, stated this while declaring open a One-day Faculty lecture on the topic: *Co-Hydroprocessing of Pyrolysis Bio-Oils with Hydrocarbon solvent for Enhanced Yield of Upgraded Biofuels* organised by the Faculty of Physical Sciences and held at the University's Senate Chambers.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Dean, as well as, other faculty members for their efforts and commitment in organising the Faculty Lecture, adding that, her administration is always ready to support staff in advancing knowledge for the growth of the University.
She reiterated that her administration is committed to advancing knowledge and innovation in the field of Bioenergy, even as she noted that the lecture marks another milestone in the effort to promote cutting-edge research and collaboration.
The Vice Chancellor expressed her appreciation to the Guest Lecturer for coming to share his wealth of knowledge with staff and students, charging those present to be actively involved in the lecture.

The Dean of Physical Sciences, Prof. Ekaete Enang said the lecture will be an eye opener to the exciting possibilities of co-hydro processing in the biofuel industry.
She further commended the lecturer for coming to analyse the topic saying, "We look forward to seeing the impact of this research on the development of sustainable energy solutions".
The Guest Lecturer, Dr Jude Onwudili, an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom, in his lecture presentation, focused on the innovative approach of Co-hydroprocessing Pyrolysis Bio-Oils with Hydrocarbon solvent to produce high-quality, upgraded Biofuels.
Dr. Onwudili presented his research findings on the Co-hydroprocessing technique which has shown promising results in increasing the yield and quality of Biofuels derived from biomass.
The renowned Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering said the process involves combining Pyrolysis Bio-Oils with Hydrocarbon solvent and subjecting them to high temperatures and pressures in the presence of a catalyst.
He further highlighted the benefits of this approach to include; improved fuel properties, reduced production costs and enhanced environmental sustainability.
The highly interactive lecture featured a question-and-answer session.
