CUSTECH Hosts FUL Delegation on Campus Security, Shares Best Practices
Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, on Friday, July 10th, 2026, received a delegation from the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL), led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Jacqueline Badaki, on a collaborative visit aimed at strengthening campus security and promoting a safe learning environment across tertiary institutions in Kogi State.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Badaki disclosed that the delegation was directed by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to visit CUSTECH and understudy the University's security architecture and operational strategies with a view to adopting best practices that would further enhance security at the Federal University, Lokoja.
She noted that the visit was part of efforts to foster collaboration between both institutions in ensuring that university campuses across the state remain safe and conducive for teaching, learning, research and community service.
Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of CUSTECH, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, expressed delight over the visit and confirmed the University's commitment to partnering with sister institutions in promoting peace and security within the nation's tertiary education system.

Prof. Salawu assured the visiting team of CUSTECH's readiness to provide the necessary support and share its experiences in campus security management, expressing optimism that the collaboration would contribute significantly to guaranteeing the safety of the Federal University, Lokoja.
The Vice-Chancellor advised the delegation to ensure that members of staff embrace the vision and mission of their institution, stressing that institutional security is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of all stakeholders.
He also emphasized the need to prioritize the welfare of security personnel, noting that a motivated security workforce is critical to effective campus security. According to him, both kinetic and non-kinetic security measures should be deployed in safeguarding lives and property within university communities.
As part of the visit, Prof. Salawu conducted the delegation on a tour of the University's permanent campus, showcasing the extensive infrastructural development undertaken by the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, as well as the security measures put in place to protect the institution.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, the University Librarian of the Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Sarah Dauda Yani, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception, insightful guidance and valuable recommendations.
She assured the CUSTECH management that the delegation would brief the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. OGbenga Ibileye, on the lessons learnt during the visit and expressed confidence that the collaboration would strengthen security management in their institution.
Among those present to receive the delegation in Osara, were the University Librarian, Mrs Helen Osebequen Chris-Israel;Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Prof. Solomon Avidime; the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu; and the Ag. Head, Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Umar Steven Ogirima.
