The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Monday, awarded scholarships to 70 postgraduate students under his Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme. The admission letters were distributed at a ceremony held at the Amani Event Centre, Kano State, through the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF).
The scholarship recipients were selected to study in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics Technology, Cybersecurity, and Forensic Science at various institutions in China, India, and Thailand. Senator Barau emphasized that the selection process was seamless and purely based on merit, with beneficiaries drawn from all parts of Kano State, regardless of political or social backgrounds.
In his speech, Senator Barau explained that the initiative was driven by his commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for Kano State and Nigeria. He highlighted the value of education for individual and societal development, stressing the importance of hard work among the beneficiaries.

He encouraged the students to excel in their studies, be good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria, and to consider applying their newly acquired skills toward the country's development upon completing their studies.
The Deputy Senate President noted that the scholarship programme would continue, with more qualified candidates to be selected in the future.
