Determined Young American Achieves Childhood Dream, Becomes Pilot After 11-Year Journey

Delante Sykes, a determined young man from the United States, has realized his childhood dream of becoming a pilot after an 11-year journey of dedication and hard work. Delante's passion for aviation dates back to his early years, as evidenced by images of him trying to fly an airplane at the age of 2.

After graduating from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, in 2017, Delante pursued his dream by enrolling in the Aviation program at the University of North Dakota. In 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, achieving an impressive 3.73 GPA. Eager to take to the skies, Delante continued his journey by enrolling in pilot training at the university from 2020 to 2022, ultimately becoming a Stage Check Pilot.

His dedication and skills did not go unnoticed, as Delante Sykes was selected in the 1st round of the airline draft by American Airlines shortly after completing his required qualifications at the University of North Dakota. His father, Valentino Sykes, proudly shared the news on Facebook, expressing his joy at his son being drafted as a First Officer for American Airlines.

Delante Sykes, known as "The Durag Pilot," expressed his excitement at reaching this milestone in his career. Reflecting on the 11-year journey, he thanked God for guiding him and allowing him to see this day. Delante expressed gratitude to his parents and friends for their unwavering support, acknowledging the importance of a strong support system in achieving one's dreams.
